Happy Holidays!!
Happy Holidays! Think about and do something for the less fortunate this holiday season.
Tumblr != Twitter
I don’t really use Twitter (no one really cares what I’m doing from minute to minute), but I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that Twitter and Tumblr are equivalent. I suppose the folks who write the stories in the press either don’t take the time to distinguish the two, or the articles are edited down to lump them together in an indistinguishable blob. Either way...
‘Will It Fly?’ - Ev Williams, on Idea Evaluation →
Found on Found|Read: Ev [Williams] has developed a way of analyzing his ideas, based on seven criteria/questions: Tractability: How difficult will it be to launch a worthwhile version 1.0? Obviousness: Is it clear why people should use it? Deepness: How much value can you ultimately deliver? Wideness: How many people may ultimately use it? Discoverability: How will people learn about your...
Amazon SimpleDB 101 & Why It Matters →
Another nice move by Amazon with the launch of SimpleDB, their database-like web service. Amazon is holding a solid lead with their web services offerings. Tumblr Takes the Middle Ground
Fred Wilson’s post on social blogging (reblogged here) laid out the middle ground that tumblr, with its easy to use admin interface, occupies between traditional blogs and social networking. Blogging vs. Social Networking →
Darren Rowse over at Problogger talks about the differences between social networking and blogging. Blogging is still a valuable tool for the individual and in my opinion is a better way to build your own brand. Being prolific on Facebook or Myspace is more about (empty?) celebrity than brand. Used properly both can be beneficial to the online professional, but if you had to choose, I’d say...

Social Blogging →
I’m definitely finding new and interesting microblogs, tumblelogs, or whatever you want to call them through tumblr’s dashboard. Fred Wilson has nice post on social blogging (reblogged below). I’ve found that reblogging helps when you want to comment on someone’s post through your own tumblelog and provides another mechanism to “discuss” things in context....
Is There A Happy Medium Between Opt-In and... →
“… Facebook is trying to solve a really hard problem and I believe they are doing it to make their service better for their uses. I want the music I listen to shared automagically with my friends. And since I don’t listen to music on Facebook, the idea of a Beacon is a great thing. Of course they are going to make mistakes trying to get the balance right. But the impact of all...
