Tumblr != Twitter
I don’t really use Twitter (no one really cares what I’m doing from minute to minute), but I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that Twitter and Tumblr are equivalent. I suppose the folks who write the stories in the press either don’t take the time to distinguish the two, or the articles are edited down to lump them together in an indistinguishable blob. Either way it’s a disservice to both applications. Also, I just want to add that Tumblr and del.icio.us are not equivalent either.

As both a user of popular services Tumblr and Twitter, I feel obligated to dispel the completely false assumption that both services are pretty much the same thing.
