More good news for startups: Google App Engine

Google App Engine definitely looks interesting. I’ve recently started working with Django and this should provide a fertile playground to try some new things. Some interesting analysis on Google App Engine and push back from Amazon AWS is here. This has a lot of potential to be good for the web, but a lot will depend on how Google rolls this out.

bijan is excited about it:

Just read all the coverage of the Google App Engine.

I can’t wait to talk to some of our portfolio companies that use Amazon Web services and get their thoughts on how this stacks up.

The timing couldn’t have been better. More and more companies need this yesterday and Amazon has been having some performance issues of late.

I am amazed but not surprised that Google best Msft to market on this one. There has been long standing rumors that msft and Akamai were going to have a something but I guess they will be behind.

I bet the folks in redmond aren’t happy today.
